UNDP-GEF project „Sustainable Transport in the City of Belgrade“ has been presented as a successful example of good practice at the international conference “Improvement of Sustainable Urban Mobility for Better Health and Environment”, that is being held in the City of Kaunas, Lithuania, 24-25 September 2014.
Conference is organized jointly by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), World Health Organization (WHO) and Government of Lithuania – the City of Kaunas, under the framework of the UN process “Transport, Health and Environment – THE PEP”.

The PEP process represents unique intergovernmental partnership established with the aim to initiate policy decisions and encourage urban planners to take into consideration effects of transport on the state of human health and environment. Republic of Serbia joined the group of the countries that expressed their commitments to achieving sustainable development in the context of transport, health and environment, by signing the Paris and Amsterdam Declarations (2014 and 2009). Forthcoming implementing commitments include: development of National Action Plan for transport, health and environment, introducing promotional urban mobility measures, strengthening national capacities, information and awareness raising on the effects of urban transport on climate change and possible alternatives with this regard.
